Weed
Start with a broom and then proceed with a good clean with strong detergente. Weed will grow between the joints of your block paving, use weed preventative for this.
Weeds between joints affect the durability of your patio/driveway in the long term.
If would be great it you can use a power washer. You should use it angled at 30°.
Always spray diagonally on a medium pressure.
All cleaning product should be rinsed away.
Using a power washer that is too powerful may mark the surface of some paving materials, braiking up the jointing material.
Re-sand and re-point any joints that need this.
To remove stains
To remove stains and spillages you should use different treatments depending on the nature of the stain.
Examples of these are moss, algae, rust, grease, oil, paint , tyre marks and more.
Identify the source of the stain and repair it. This will prevent the staining from growing further on your paving.
Be carefull
Wear protective clothing for chemical products and make sufre you have sufficient ventilation.
Take extra cares to avoid damaging or staining adjoining material.
Any treatment should be applied on a small section of the affected area first, strictly following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Chemical removal methods should never be used on clay products.
Make sure that there is no hazard for those in the surrounding areas. Make sure you dispose the chemical method by products safely. This includes clothes that have been stained with chemicals.
For the first few weeks after the Block Paving has being laid, the joints between a block paved surface will be slightly porous.
Water from rain or other sources will consolidate the jointing sand and flush it out in some cases. It is very important to top these joints with jointing sand to prevent damage to your driveway.
A general clean at the start of Spring with a stiff broom and a good detergent is always a must. Mark this date on your calendar.
